PA EMS Memorial Service and the Foundation's Star of Life Dinner

Please mark your calendars for Monday, September 11th for the PA EMS Memorial Service and the Foundation's Star of Life Dinner. The events of the day honor our the past, present and future of EMS. We honor past: the lives of our EMS family who lost their life in the line of duty. We honor the present: outstanding providers from YOUR agency. We honor the future: Two very deserving grant recipients will finish their paramedic training program Does your service have an outstanding provider? Does your service have a provider who exemplifies EMS in your community? Would you like to honor someone for their years of dedication? Reward them with tickets to this dinner and recognition as a Pennsylvania Star of Life. The nomination form is attached. Although the form says nomination, the process is simple. Send us the information on your outstanding providers along with their registration for the dinner and they WILL be honored during the award ceremony and receive the star of life award. Did you know that the Foundation has awarded over $30,000 in grants to EMTs who wish to become paramedics? Your support, sponsorship and attendance at these event helps this important cause as well as to raise the level of awareness of the importance of EMS! Our keynote speaker is Raphael Barishansky, Deputy Secretary for Health Planning and Assessment and acting Bureau of EMS Director. Please find attached a newly adopted IAB publication, Recommendations on Selection and Use of Personal Protective Equipment and Decontamination Products for First Responders Against Exposure Hazards to Synthetic Opioids, Including Fentanyl and Fentanyl Analogues. This document establishes guidance for personal protective equipment selection and use, decontamination, detection, and medical countermeasures for first responders who may be exposed to opioids in the course of their occupational activities. This paper has been uploaded to the IAB public website (link below). The Program Office will distribute this paper via our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) and outreach distribution list in the coming days. Free Pipeline Awaren and Emergency Response Sessions

Sunoco Pipeline L.P. and other pipeline operators in Pennsylvania are sponsoring free pipeline awareness and emergency response sessions for all officials and emergency responders in Chester & Delaware counties. Mid-Atlantic MedEvac 3 no longer in operation.

Chester County DES has received notification that Mid-Atlantic Medevac #3 located at the Pottstown Limerick Airport is no longer in operation. This resource has been removed from the CAD system and requests for aeromedical resources will use the pre-determined response plans to supplement the next-due resource. Additional instructions will be relayed shortly regarding response plan updates for agencies or municipalities that are affected by this change. Updates from PADoH on Protocols, Medication and Scope of Practice and Required Equipment List

Chester County DES is finalizing the process of creating user accounts for each Fire/EMS agency in the County for the Harris Technical University. This account will allow each responder agency access to custom online interactive training for your Harris Radio equipment.
